Cinco De Summer Outfits 2011

In a way, celebrating this holiday is a very American thing; strangely enough, Cinco de Mayo is largely ignored in many parts of Mexico, though there are annual celebrations in the state of Puebla as well as in Mexico City and a few other places throughout the country. However, on our side of the border, Cinco de Mayo is a big event and many people attend parades and parties, many dressing up in Cinco de Mayo outfits to add to the festive air of the occasion.

When people throw their own May 5th parties, they will often suggest that their guests dress up in attire appropriate for the holiday. If you've received an invitation to a party which requests that you dress for Cinco de Mayo and you're at a loss as to where to find fitting summer outfits 2011 or for that matter, even what a good costume would be for this holiday, keep reading for a couple of hints which can get you off in the right direction and prepare you to celebrate the fifth of May in style.

Since Cinco de Mayo is a commemoration of the Mexican victory over the French in the May 5th, 1862 Battle of Puebla, then one idea for themed cote outfits is to dress as a Mexican soldier from that period, as many Mexicans do in and around Puebla during annual reenactments of the battle. You can find everything you will need for these costumes at your local thrift stores costume shops and have Cinco de Mayo outfits, which are perfect for the holiday and give a nod to the history behind this celebration.

Another choice to consider is dressing up as a mariachi band along with a group of friends. You will not have too much trouble with the clothing, since traditionally, these musicians simply wear black trousers and white shirts accessorized with serapes and sombreros. If you have instruments (trumpets, guitars and the like) bring them along to add more authenticity to the look; you do not have to actually be able to play any mariachi songs to make these great Cinco de Mayo outfits the talk of any holiday party.

If you would prefer to keep things very simple, then you could choose to throw on a sombrero along with your street clothes or if you are a woman, go for a simple white blouse, which can be worn off of one shoulder along with a long, colorfully patterned skirt for a traditional, "Old Mexico" kind of look. Men can choose from traditional or contemporary styles, with a comfortable guyabera shirt being an excellent choice if you would like your Cinco de Mayo summer outfits to give a tip of the hat to this holiday without going overboard. Remember, your Cinco de Mayo clothes do not have to be elaborate as long as you remember to have fun celebrating this cross-border holiday.
